Our Story
After a car accident in the early 80's, what followed was a long history of pain and trying to find relief through chiropractic adjustments, massage and prescription medications. Nothing worked. Every day, for years, I had constant pain in my neck and arms, so much so that at one point, I had to take a break from my successful floral and party business.
In 1998 I moved to a remote Island in Southeast Alaska where I was introduced to the Tlingit and Haida Natives. They showed me some of the plants growing on the Island and told me about their medicinal properties. It was here that I first learned how to make tinctures and salves, and started living a subsistence lifestyle. I was amazed at what these plants could do.
Fast-forward to 2014, when I moved to Northern Arizona, I was introduced to many other plants growing abundantly in the Desert. One of the plants was Chaparral, also known as Creosote. I learned from the Native Americans and a local herbalist, Dr. Ditoh, that it had wonderful properties to relieve pain like the plants I used when I lived in Alaska.
After studying at Arizona’s Yavapai College, where I learned more about this amazing Sacred Plant, I experimented for a year to develop a recipe for skin salve that eases aches and pains, moisturizes, protects and soothes the skin. I started rubbing it on my painful shoulders, neck and arms and was amazed at how the pain virtually disappeared. I began sharing it with friends and relatives who were experiencing arthritis and chronic joint pain. Their results were amazing too. Finally, a break-through…relief from pain.
In May of 2021, I met Rob Crown, my Soulmate and Business Partner. It has been through his spiritual inspiration and passion for this plant that has helped me achieve my dreams of getting this medicine to more people, creating new formulas using proprietary methods and recipes as a basis for expanding. Together, we have taken Arizona Desert Rain’s Chaparral products to a new level. We practice the teachings of Dr. Masaru Emoto’s The Hidden Messages in Water and know that our thoughts create our reality. Thus, we ceremonially thank Mother Earth for this Sacred Plant, a blessed gift, before wild-crafting the Chaparral. We bless each batch that we make and bless all those that are going to use it with heart-centered intentions and the healing power of love and gratitude.
Since then, through Divine Guidance, Rob and I have added other natural and organic products made from the Sacred Chaparral plant: body salve, bug repellent, tea, body oil, sunscreen, smudge wands, CBD salve/oil and tincture.
Pain and soreness can be debilitating for anyone, especially if you suffer with long-term or chronic pain.
